Rodeo Beach

January 9, 2014

Watching the clouds part the sky

With the quickness of a train on a straightaway

But a fluidity all their own

Pieces of human verbiage pierce the sound of the crashing waves.

Whatever.

Nothing can disturb my peace.

Gravel crunching next to me

In my sheltered hideaway

Does not drown out the ocean’s call

Nor dull the lighthouse horn.

The buoy rings unevenly

Daring ships to near

And still the clouds pass ‘bove my head

My peace a constant partner.

I grew up next to the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse horn was like a lullaby. You captured the essence of that life perfectly. Lovely work! Thanks for brightening my evening with such fond memories. 🙂
