Trifecta, Week 68, Time: 3a : an appointed, fixed, or customary moment or hour for something to happen, begin, or end b : an opportune or suitable moment —often used in the phrase about time
Marva was dressed, stood at the ready. She knew it could be any moment now. The time passed slowly but her heart raced fast. This would be her first run out. Beeeep! Marva jumped. Oh, she thought, radio. Ok, I can do this. She pushed the button on the radio, “Yeah, Marva here.”
“It’s time! Out!” said the voice on the other end.
Marva bolted out the front door and, without bothering to close and lock it, ran to her vehicle. Keys were already in, so off she went. Driving fast in her neighborhood was a challenge, what with all the speed bumps and people wandering around like lost sheep. She pulled into the suspect’s driveway. Four other unmarked vehicles were already there.
She joined the crew discussing strategy and unholstered her gun. She received her orders. To the back of the house. Suspect was armed. She and another officer moved to the back of the house and slowly climbed to the porch, Marva following. Her mate shouted, “FBI!” and smashed the locked door. They entered and slowly made their way to the living room.
“SURPRISE, Marva! Happy Birthday!”
Marva was utterly surprised as her birthday was in three months. But she’d take it.
