Fortified Discrimination

July 10, 2012

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt

For now

Because it keeps anger at bay.

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt

Because I’m not sure they know what they’re saying

Convenience is a definition, corroborated by tradition

And then they say, “It’s always been that way.”

We’ve always kept them down that way.”

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt

They don’t see I pay more taxes

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt

That if they really knew, they’d see

It’s discrimination, no question

It’s unequal, so clear

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt

Because I know they wouldn’t allow it

If it were them.

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt

Because I can’t believe, today, real Americans would want this

Discrimination?

Out loud?

Fortified?

Wow. Time’s up!
