Dreaming Trees

July 5, 2011

There’s a tree that I know

Thriving on dreams from a star

The star that shoots off

From thoughts and a puff.

And that tree just won’t stop tryin’,

Tryin’ to make colors from black, brown, and gray,

Tryin’ to be wispy with rocks or with clay,

And tryin’, oh tryin’, ever so hard.

There’s a tree that I know

Drooping so slow

Wondering when will it stop.

The runs of the river

The washing of stones

The pushing of velvet through bones

And if that’s not enough,

The hill it must climb just to fit in the plot

Is starting to turn upside down.

What tree do you know

Can accomplish these feats

To catch a ride with the dream totin’ star

And find the place whence it came?
